Install arc desktop and/or Arc Pro

OVERVIEW

When ESRI releases a new version of ArcDesktop all GIS users need to have their install upgraded.

ArcPro is connected to the ArcGIS online system and will update as necessary, but the install file is also identified here for a new install.

The install files are located at: "\\fs-01\its\dept\Software\ESRI - ArcGIS"

PROCEDURE

Open the above address path in Windows explorer on the intended computer.

Click on the install file necessary, only choose one at a time, and the install file will run.

The "Launch the setup program" is enabled so the setup should immediately open.

Click through all of the window options, there are no changes to be made, and then at the end hit "Install"

Once the install has finalized the completion window appears.

Next, in ArcGIS Administrator Wizard you set up Product License and the Concurrent Licensing server connection. The license administrator is on a server named GIS-01.

Choose either the basic or advanced concurrent license option at the top, and then input gis-01 in the license manager location in the bottom left. If you have any question about what kind of license a computer should have please ask Rob.

Hit Okay to complete the configuration. The system will then open ArcGIS Administrator and it will show you details on the installation.

The last step is to tell ArcGIS where the GIS server is located. Choose Advanced in the bottom right of the ArcGIS Administrator window and Advanced Configuration will open.

Click on Manage Portal Connection at the bottom.

This window allows you to direct ArcDesktop to the local GIS Portal instance. The current connection should be to the ArcGIS online external website.

Hit the Add button and type in https://gis.salem.com/portal and hit OK.

The Portal address should appear in the list now, to activate the connection, click on the portal address in the list and click on Connect on the right.

Close out the windows by hitting Dismiss on the Advanced Configuration page, and then OK on the ArcGIS Administrator; install is finished.

Arc Pro:

This install is simpler

Click on the ArcGISPro exe file

Run the install after the setup program has run.

Click through all of the windows, there are no settings to change.

Once the install is done the process is finished.
